About Department

Since 1960, there have been significant advancements in space sciences and technologies, and developed countries have rapidly increased their investments and human resources in these fields. However, our country is not yet at the desired level in this area. On the other hand, in Decision No. 2005/9 of the Board of Higher Science and Technology, it was emphasized that reaching a competitive level of knowledge in space research and training human resources in space research is a priority national goal. In our country, there is a need for education in both scientific and technological aspects of space studies. The Department of Space Sciences and Technologies, which is an interdisciplinary department, aims to educate competent graduates who can participate in applied research and development activities and effectively utilize the knowledge and technology accumulation of our era in their field.

The Department of Space Sciences and Technologies has 1 professor, 3 associate professors, and 1 research assistant in its faculty.

In our department, after basic courses are taught in the first and second years, courses covering Space Sciences, Remote Sensing, and Space Technologies are offered. In the field of Space Sciences, courses covering astronomy, astrophysics, and celestial mechanics are taught; in the field of Remote Sensing, courses covering image processing, navigation (position and time), and applications are offered; and in the field of Space Technologies, courses covering the design, launch, and management of artificial satellites, as well as the design and use of detectors, and the various applications of space technologies in different engineering and scientific fields, are included.

Our graduates receive the title of 'Space and Space Technologies Scientist.' Graduates of our department will be able to successfully contribute to both national and international space studies with the knowledge and experience they have gained. Additionally, they will be able to contribute to applied research and development activities.
