Undergraduate Program

Since 1960, there has been significant acceleration in developments in space sciences and technologies, and advanced countries have rapidly increased their human resources and investments in these fields. However, our country has not yet reached the desired level in this area. On the other hand, the decision of the High Council of Science and Technology numbered 2005/9 emphasizes that achieving a knowledge level in space research where Turkey can compete with the world and training human resources are top national priorities. In our country, there is a need for education in both scientific and technological aspects of space studies. The Department of Space Sciences and Technologies, which is an interdisciplinary department, aims primarily to educate competent graduates who can actively participate in application and R&D studies and effectively utilize the knowledge and technology accumulation of our era.

The Department of Space Sciences and Technologies has a staff of 1 professor, 3 associate professors, and 1 research assistant.

In our department, after fundamental courses are taught in the first and second years, courses covering Space Sciences, Remote Sensing, and Space Technologies are offered. Courses in the field of Space Sciences cover topics such as astronomy, astrophysics, and celestial mechanics; courses in Remote Sensing include image processing, navigation (position and time), and applications; and in Space Technologies, courses cover the design, launch, and management of artificial satellites, as well as the design and use of detectors, along with the various engineering and scientific applications of space technologies.

Our graduates receive the title of "Space and Space Technologies Scientist." Graduates of this department will be able to succeed in both national and international space studies due to the knowledge and experience they have gained, and they will also be able to contribute to application and R&D studies.

The Undergraduate Program Curriculum for the year 2013 for the Department of Space Sciences and Technologies is attached.

The Undergraduate Program Curriculum for the year 2017 for the Department of Space Sciences and Technologies is attached.
